Reiki therapy is a type of energy healing developed in Japan in the 1920s. During a reiki session, your therapist moves their hands over your body or lightly touches you in order to transmit “life force energy.” Reiki can be described as spiritual healing, but it’s not affiliated with any religions.
Reiki therapy recognizes that the body is made of a combination of structural materials, including bones, muscles, and ligaments, and houses a natural form of “life force energy.” During a reiki session, your therapist uses their hands to transmit additional energy to your body for the purposes of healing and well-being.
Before beginning your reiki session, you’ll discuss your symptoms and areas of concern with your therapist. Next, you lay down on a comfortable massage table to relax. During your session, your therapist may cover you with a blanket or sheet to stay warm and relaxed.
